CHL's Scrip Program

Scrip gift cards

The Center for Humane Living’s (CHL) Scrip Program is a powerful ongoing fundraising tool, because families generate revenue through purchases they would make anyway. In essence, Scrip is fundraising while you shop at venues you already frequent.

Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, restaurant meals, gasoline, even hotels and airline tickets can be purchased with scrip.  An organization of 50 families easily spends between three hundred and five hundred thousand dollars per year on food, clothing and other essentials. If our CHL families use scrip for these purchases, we could raise as much as $10,000 to $25,000 annually without spending an additional PENNY.  CHL needs funding to continue to spread our vision to inspire all individuals to live peaceful and compassionate lives while implementing a fully humanitarian agenda.

It is a WIN WIN!

The word scrip means “substitute money”. When you purchase gift cards from your CHL representatives, you are purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash.

Scrip is issued by hundreds of local and national retailers where many of you already shop. With every purchase, you earn revenue for The Center for Humane Living. That is such a good feeling!

How scrip works:
CHL buys scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discounted fee. Automatically the retailers give various percentages, from 2% to 19% back to our school. When the CHL representative sells you the card it is already loaded at full face value and you pay the exact amount you are receiving on the card.

As well as the hundreds of retailers available from Great Lakes, the CHL scrip committee also offers other local stores, including all major grocer chains. Fry’s and Bashas (also accepted at A.J.'s and Food City) offer reloadable cards. A reloadable card affords you the opportunity to place more money on the same card by using your credit card, cash or a personal check.  The code number on the reloadable scrip card is registered to CHL, therefore your placement of more monies on the card gives CHL another opportunity to collect that 2% to 19% from the retailer.  It's so EASY and CHL truly benefits.  Let’s say you purchase a $100 Fry's or Bashas card from your CHL representative. When the balance of that card is minimal or zero, you can conveniently either reload the card with the cashier before the ringing of your purchase or reload at the customer service counter.  If you use your credit card to receive miles or other benefits, you can put up to $500 (during one transaction) on your Fry’s card with your credit card. You still get your provider's benefits and CHL gets 5%.  This CHL fundraiser doesn't cost you a dime.
CHL also carries Sprouts, Target and Whole Foods at a 5% rebate.  Safeway yields 4%.  These cards are not reloadable, so a direct purchase of new cards from your representative is necessary.
