Volunteer Hours:

**These are required hours for belt promotion.

Yellow/Yellow with stripe: 5 hrs

Green: 10 hrs

Blue:  25 hrs

Red/Black: 50hrs

**For low ranks, these hours are to be completed prior to belt promotion test.  For Red/Black belts, this is 50 hrs/year.

**Volunteer Hours are meant to help with the working of the school, participate in one of the committees, for red/black belts this can be teaching as an option.

(there is a list of volunteer hour opportunities on the website)

** Up to 50% of your volunteer hours can be given as a monetary contribution to CHL at $20 per hour.

**Therese will obtain a list for Velocity/Foley Dojo of students eligible to test based on attendence and provide to Dr. Foley. He will determine if students are on final invitation list to test, after he determines if their skills are adequate and volunteer hours are completed by students.  It is the student's responsibility to provide a written document of the volunteer hours to Dr. Foley.

** Other dojos will also be responsible to provide list to Dr. Foley of students eligible to test from their schools (Ahwatukee, Erickson, Home Base, Gateway (green belt and higher).  They must be sure candidates are eligible by attendence, by skill level, and volunteer hours are completed before they are put on the recommended list to Dr. Foley.

Red/Black Belt Community Service Projects:

The red/black belt Community Service projects are required for belt promotion. These are Separate and In Addition to the above noted Volunteer Hours.    These must bring the spirit of our school to the community at large. This may be starting a new school, teaching a new class for the school, working on a project like Ki Inspiring Thoughts, starting the Teen Club setting up events, writing the Newsletter, or creating a new fundraising event that you organize and run. These projects all have the possibility for CONTINUING, ONGOING participation and commitment. Therefore, if started for one level of red or black belt and is continued, this same project can be used for additional promotions.  However, if you have a one-time project such as visiting a soup kitchen, or talking about CHL at a nursing home for a day, or designing t-shirts, these are only good for one belt promotion.  To qualify for another rank advancement, a NEW project must be completed.  Please contact Dr. Foley DIRECTLY to clarify the quality of your Community Service Projects to prevent misunderstand or misconceptions as to the validity of your project.
